Your Journey to Boat Designer

We'll give you the tools

At the South Coast Institute of Technology, you’ll learn the principles of marine engineering including boat design and construction. You’ll cover naval architecture theories such as fluid mechanics and hydrodynamics, as well as the properties of different materials used in the industry.

All hands on deck

You'll gain skills in Computer-Aided Design, using the software to create technical drawings and visualisations of your designs. You'll also learn how to test them using computer simulation modelling and physical model tank testing.

Not forgetting the important details

Covering international safety standards and regulations, the basics of project management as well as the principles of entrepreneurship and running a design business, you’ll leave with all the ability to launch a successful career in boat design.
