Your Journey to Becoming an App Developer

Programming Languages
You’ll cover the key programming languages used in app development, alongside the syntax, concepts and best practices for coding. You’ll be introduced to app development frameworks like React Native or Flutter, and gain an understanding of UI and UX design principles.
Mobile App Architecture
You’ll learn about different architectural patterns used in app development, such as Model-View-Controller or Model-View-View Model. You’ll also cover database integration, including data storage and retrieval using SQLite or Firebase.
App Deployment & Distribution
Once you've built your app, you'll need to learn how to deploy it to app stores and distribute it to users. You’ll leave with the ability to prepare app assets, manage certificates and understand the guidelines and requirements of different platforms.

How Do I Start?

To become an App Developer, GCSEs in Maths, English and Computer Science would be useful. You can then progress onto A Levels in similar subjects, or you could study a Technical Diploma, T Level or Apprenticeship in Computer Science, Information Technology, Games or Software Development. You could then consider progressing to Higher Education to study Computer Science, Games or Software Development.
